The Racine County Veterans Service Office assists veterans and their dependents in applying for a wide array of State and Federal benefits. Covering a broad spectrum from home loans to burial allowances, they provide not only the necessary forms, but also advice and direction in navigating the process. Additionally they are well connected with other resources in the area that provide services to Veterans. When in doubt, this is who you call.

Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin

Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin (VOW) is a nonprofit organization committed to assisting homeless and at-risk veterans return to a life of normalcy. They provide food, clothing, shelter, and other basic human needs to veterans in need. Their location is also home to the James A. Peterson Veteran Village and the SC Johnson Community Center. The Village consists of 15 tiny homes and an all-encompassing program that assists veterans in recovering from their previous state of homelessness.

Supportive Services for Veterans Families

Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) aims to help veteran families who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness quickly regain stability and permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis or homelessness. SSVF provides a range of supportive services designed to resolve the immediate crisis and promote housing stability. Intervention is short-term and temporary.

Heat For Heroes

Heat for Heroes helps veterans to alleviate life-threatening energy related emergencies through the use of energy assistance grants. If a veteran is without heat, due to service disconnection or a broken furnace, or is just falling behind on their utility bills Heat For Heroes may be able to provide assistance.

The Second Judicial District of Wisconsin Veterans Treatment Court

The Second Judicial District of Wisconsin Veterans Treatment Court exists to help restore veterans to a productive life by providing judicial support, treatment and supervision. They focus on veterans with pending misdemeanor and felony level offenses who are suffering from alcohol or drug dependence or a treatable mental health diagnosis that has contributed to the commission of a criminal offense.

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is a nonprofit charity that provides veterans with a multitude of services. Some of the services provided for veterans of Racine County include assistance filing VA benefit claims, finding employment, and getting transportation to VA medical appointments.
